InFlux Magazine

Spring 2025

What I’m proud of:

I created the Table of Contents/Letter from the Editors, Digital Dysmorphia, Amore Coffeeshop, Future of Dining Out, and Keith Haring pages, as well as editing/advising on all other pages.

Why was this significant for InFlux?
I was really happy with how these pages turned out, and was proud to see them as a final part of the magazine.

What did you learn from it?
Understanding that our first try is not always going to be right, and being willing to be flexible with design.

Knowing then what you know now, how might you have improved what you did?
For future projects, I will remember to not get attached to the photos/content that I am using, and be more open to all available media.

I co-created the brand guide, including fonts, colors, and logo for Influx.

Why was this significant for InFlux?
Having this established early allowed for a consistent look and voice throughout the magazine, social medias and website.

What did you learn from it?
It is way harder to pick fonts and colors than I thought it would be. Trying to have enough color to keep it from looking bland, but also not going too crazy was a precarious balance.

I planned the magazine layout, in terms of how many pages each story was allocated, and where in the magazine they landed.

Why was this significant for InFlux?
I think that the placement of stories is really important when someone is reading through something, in order to properly keep attention, while not being too intense. Also, correctly estimating how many pages each story would need was important for those on my team to make design easier.

What did you learn from it?
We can always be working on our leadership and organizational skills, and this allowed me to do that. Doing things in ways that worked for me and my team, such as writing stories on post it notes so they could be easily moved around, even if they aren’t standard is helpful as everyone has their own process.

Knowing then what you know now, how might you have improved what you did?
If I was going to do it all over again, I would have wanted to pair my team up with the writer/photographer for their pages sooner. I think that would have given people the opportunity to bond more with each other.
