Secondhand clothing: what sells & to who

Being aware of your target audience

This infographic primarily shows who is the main consumer of secondhand items, and what types of items they are interested in purchasing. My target audience is brands or companies that provide secondhand goods to consumers, so they can be more knowledgable of their customers. This is important for these organizations to know, so they can, for example, stock the categories of merchandise that people are most likely to buy secondhand (home decor, bags, and everyday clothing). This could also help when pricing items, so they would know to charge less for less frequently bought items, such as pet supplies and shoes.

For this infographic, I used a combination of data from a Mintel and Statista report. I have information on gender demographics, types of merchandise most purchased, and main reasons for purchasing secondhand.

I have created this in a print format, and it is 11x17 inches, a size typically used for posters. To create it, I used Adobe Express. I found that this worked best as the graphs and charts that I wanted to make could be made within the program, rather than needing a different program, and not being able to edit them after export. I found this an interesting topic to research, and feel like it would be helpful to secondhand business owners.
